3 Ways to Grow Your Business
You and I both know that we don’t own our business, it owns us! It’s so easy to become bogged down with the daily operations of running a business that we can start to loose balance between our perosnal life and our career.
Doing everything yourself is NOT a sustainable way to run a business. Why? Because, 1) You’re going to experience burn out, and 2) the quality of your services will suffer. When there’s no joy in your work, it shows. You’ll get to a point where your customers are unhappy because you can no longer sustain the workload.
Adding the follwing 3 ways to grow your business, you’ll shift from feeling overwhelemed, to feeling excited again!
Delegate
I get it, your business is very personal to you. It’s essentially the manifestation of your dreams and that is an amazing accomplishment! But that doesn’t mean that you should be doing all of the work yourself.
Instead, to be successful, you need to start creating processes for all of the tasks you do in a day. Then ask yourself:
- What tasks can only I do?
- What tasks can someone else do better?
- What tasks are taking up most of my time?
- Who can I delegate these tasks to?
As the leader of your business, there will always be tasks that ONLY you can perform! These are your leadership tasks. But if you’re truly honest with yourself, there are also tasks that are better off delegated to people already working for you.
To help you with this task, I’ve created a WORKBOOK to help you through this process.
Automate
Delegating requires you to either hire someone or find a freelancer. This is not always the most economical choice for a small business owner. Additionally, there are many tasks in your business that should be automated so that your business can still operate even while you’re not, during off-hours.
Typically, small business owners can automate much of their marketing. Some of the things that I have automated in my business are my social media posts, email follow-ups, scheduling, lead generation, and education.
With CRM software like Keap, your only limitation to what you can automate is your creativity.
Outsource
Once upon a time, I was a bookkeeper. I met so many business owners who spent way too many hours each week struggling to understand how to use Quickbooks or fixing errors. All of those hours cost money. Instead of struggling to accomplish specialized tasks that you may be “sort of” good at, why not outsource work to professionals?
Professional marketers have to stay current with the latest trends in digital marketing, know how to use certain software, understand copywriting, and so much more! A small business owner needs to focus on their expertise and allow professionals to serve them. This is how you scale your business.
Not only will you save valuable time, energy, and resources, but the job often comes out better than anything you could have done.
Conclusion
To organize your business into the 3 key elements of success: Delegate, Automate, and Outsource, I encourage you to create an action plan. Write out the steps needed to fulfill each task. This should include:
- The name of the individual, agency, or software that will be responsible for the task.
- How you can provide a detailed, step-by-step outline to complete the task.
- Deadline to get the tasks off of your “to-do” list.
To help you, I’ve created the “Simplify Your Workload” Workbook.
This worksheet was designed to help you:
- Discover your repetitive tasks
- Develop a plan to remove those items from your “to-do” list
- Allow you to focus on your leadership tasks.
